It is important to me that your dog is comfortable and happy whilst in my care. And so when I come to meet you and your dog for a free home visit,we can discuss what kind of things your dog likes and dislikes out on walks or whether the “pop in” visit or solo walks would be more suitable.
We will also introduce your dog to the van gradually and ensure he or she associates it as a positive place to be in if the group walks is the service of choice. Dogs are matched to group walks to suit their personalities and individual needs.
If at any point I felt your dog wasn’t enjoying the dog walks, I would make you aware and we would come up with a solution that’s more suited for your dog.
With having a behaviour and training background, I am able to recognise subtle indicators of stress or uncertainty in dogs, and so I will be able to promptly help your dog feel more at ease in any situation in my care should he or she ever feel this way.
Understanding how your dog is feeling in situations, as well as other dogs we come across on the walk will be invaluable to significantly reduce risks of any behaviour escalations.
What To Expect…
From the moment I meet your dog for the walk to the moment I leave, the aim is to ensure your dog finds the whole experience enjoyable (and tiring)!
Accessibility to the dog walking van can be tailored to your dog’s needs should he or she find it difficult to jump in/out. A purpose built ramp is transported and available at all times.
Making the journey to and from the walk relaxing and calm is an aim of mine and so give each dog in the van will have something to be doing such as a mental stimulation game.
Each of the 4 (no more than 4 dogs are walked in a group) enclosures in the van are at van floor level (so no enclosure is stacked above another), and visual blockers are in place so each dog has their own privacy without another eyeing up their treat!
Calming music will be played for the dogs (classical music via the icalmdog device) and the use of the adaptil to help each dog relax.
A first aid kit is kept in the van along water, towels and clean bedding.
If you’d like to discuss further please do get in touch and we can arrange a no obligation free home visit to meet you and your dog.
